The El Plantio Golf Club is the only one in the region of Valencia that has two golf courses, the first is the excellent 18 holes, and the second is a very pretty little 9-hole course.
The Abundant vegetation is a major feature of this well-designed golf course where the outstanding quality of the greens and fairways are perfectly noticeable. The rounds are well adapted to player's possibilities and all levels are catered for, making El Plantio the ideal destination for the whole family.
The 18-hole section was designed by Manual Ferry and opened in the year 2000, benefiting greatly from the luxury landscape. El Plantio Golf Course is located on a plot of land with no buildings around it, perfectly integrated into its natural scenery, guaranteeing absolute peace and quiet for a good game of golf peppered with challenges and entertainment.
The fairways are broad and comfortable, however the slopes along the 2nd, 12th and 13th holes are the only complications on a course that generally has flat or only slightly undulating fairways. Only the abundant vegetation can make things difficult for drives leading up to the approach to the greens.
The size of the greens, just like the fairways and the tee-offs, is normally ample. Both the design and their upkeep are outstanding. The undulations of this golf course give any player an entertaining round.
It is surprising for such a long golf course to have such a little amount of bunkers, however they are so strategically placed that they are decisive in practicing each green, but not too deep so as to make a mistake recoverable. There are also two large lakes that complicate matters and increase the sensation of enjoying a fine game in the midst of nature.
The round starts off with a bang - a par 4 that is long and complicated. The presence of water hazards flanking the large sized green, which has varying slopes, requires lots of precision at the 1st hole.
The 7th, although short is one of the most difficult. Its sharp slope makes it seem longer, and the rough to the right and to the back of this tiny green calls for a good measure of precision.
One of the most technically demanding is the 10th, a par 4 extending some 379 metres, with an obliquely placed green and the additional threat of a water hazard. The second shot is particularly difficult because one has to negotiate the fairway lined with one of many palm trees.
The 12th is undoubtedly the most complete. Over 500 meters in length, where players have to overcome a dogleg to the left, along a fairway with swaying pine trees to approach an elevated green next to a water hazard, and marked by the steepest of slopes on the course, plus two bunkers to the right.
Last but not least is the 13th, a par 4 at 333 metres, standing out for its unique location, surrounded by the spurs of the mountain, with rough on both sides right up to the green, which is raised and flanked to the right by one of the largest bunkers on the course. The length of El Plantio Golf Course requires players to use their complete range of strokes and successfully combine both strength and precision. The breadth of the fairways favours strength, but the difficulties closer to the flag oblige players to use good strategic and control skills. |
